I first learned about IGS two years ago, when I was in the market for an engagement ring, through the Washington Post’s “Best Jewelers in DC” article. I was unhappy with the quality and prices of the diamonds I was seeing elsewhere. I originally dealt with Ed Sr. at IGC, who went out of his way to review the inventory of radiant cut diamonds to find me the best one at the best price.
When I finally came in to see them in person, Ed Jr. took the time to educate me on what to look for in a diamond. Also, I had a vision about what I wanted the engagement ring to look like. I sketched my vision on a piece of paper and their jewelry maker were able to craft the perfect ring.
Since purchasing the engagement ring, my wife and I also purchased our wedding bands there, as well as a pair of diamond stud earrings.
My experience with IGS has been excellent. Both Ed Sr. and Ed Jr. are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. They are straight talkers that do everything they can to make you happy so that you become a repeat customer.
I recommend them to all of my friends and would recommend them to anyone. I would never buy jewelry anywhere else.
Ed Jr and Ed Sr were both awesome. The first time we went into IGS, Ed Jr was out. Only Ed Sr was there. Ed Jr took over the business from his dad a while back, so Ed Sr decided to give us a lesson in stones. He showed us all the dimensions, what makes a good stone versus a bad stone, where to get your most value, etc. It was great. He even drew us some pictures that I still have.
Once I became an expert in diamonds, I started working with Ed Jr. He searched all over the country and must have shown me 20 different stones. Ed was patient with me as I was trying to get the biggest most beautiful stone for my dollars. And then finally, the most perfect cut right around the weight I was aiming for came along and at a great price.
I would highly recommend IGS. They only deal with the best GIA certified diamonds. You won’t find any of those shady certifications other local and chain jewelers try to push on you. I would especially recommend them if you are looking for something custom. Their jewelry maker Felix is top notch. He made the perfect ring and we’ll be getting our bands made by him to match.

IGS made the engagement ring and matching wedding bands for my wife. From the beginning, where we determined the size and the C’s of the diamond, to designing the setting, to the final product, IGS’ expertise was evident. Beyond the dealing with experts, the craftsmanship in the rings is incredible. Absolutely beautiful work and superb quality. Subsequently, I had IGS make some earrings for my wife, which were just a beautiful as the rings.
